I started coin collecting because of family and relatives. As a little boy growing up in the east, it was all about Japanese Gokin toys and Bandai Model kits. Since my family wanted to migrate to America. My collecting habit changes to western toys such as Star Wars, Transformers, G.I. Joe, M.A.S.K., LEGO, and Revell model kits. During that time, I also collect sport cards and issue #1 of every comic book release in the 90s. Then got back to my roots of collecting import toys.
What do I do:
I work as a primary physician in traditional medicine “and” as a designer in an advertising agency (yes duo career). I also help run my brother’s photography company as his creative adviser. Yeah I like to keep myself busy.
My favorite toys are: I’m with Craig that the Star Wars Vintage Collection Big Millennium Falcon is also one of my favorite toy along with Takara Tomy MP-10 Optimus Prime and other Prefect Grade Gundam kits (very hard to say one is better then the other). I enjoyed all equally in their own respected way.
I purchased an apartment and was living by myself until recently I rented out a room. My brother is living with our parents 30 minutes away from me. All of my relatives are spread all over Asia and in US. My new roommate who is also a collector. The funny thing is that we both collect completely in the opposite spectrum. He collect toys that I wouldn’t collect and vice versa. From the both of us… we pretty much cover all the toy lines across the globe.
Why do I do what I do:
I love to make art and it has always been a passion of mine for many years. I used to work as a toy designer, graphic designer, 3D computer animator, compositor, and now photography. Toys allows me to express and expand my creative outlets. It brings new concept and imagination into whatever artwork that I’m making. Sometime I needed to draw a character with a certain pose, I can use an action figure for that; or other times I can simply photograph them stylistically in a way for my Deviant Art fans to enjoy.
Anything else outside of toys:
I enjoy watching anime shows, movies, fine dining, play app games, boardgames with friends, video making and photography.
2) ive been buying/receiving TFs and PR toys since I was a kid. I started my collection officaly when I was 16 and have branched out into Kamen rider sentai gunpla kits figurarts and more. (Biklonz FTW)
3) I right now work 2 jobs. One at a big box retailer and a graveyard shift stalker. And I cashier/floor worker at a clothing store.
4) my favorites are my Super human samurai syber squad toys with took years to get. My new complete G1 Devistator and my Sun Vulcan Robo (incomplete)
5) right now its just my Girlfriend and I in ournplace but plan on adding more once finances can handle it.
6)I love robots and puzzles and having something to keeps my hands busy helps with my ADD
7) I game both video and non video. Im relly big in to MMOs and TCG and other collectable games. ive played all the big one. Magic yugioh heroclix. and so on. And am aleays willing to thow down the money to try a new one. I was super big into vangaurd but had a hard time finding players and now in new the new Marvsl Dice Masters. (Like magic but witb a bag of dice instead of a deck of cards)
On episode The New 53, Albie opened the possibility of guests on the show. I was one of the guests on the last episode of the “G1” Fwooshcast. When I listened to the episode after it came out, I noticed that the segment I was on had this humming noise in the background at some points. I then realized that it was from the microphone I used. It was a real fun experience and I appreciate you guys letting me on but I felt bad that I had lowered the audio quality of the finale episode. I wasn’t prepared for podcasting; I had used the Skype microphone off our smart-TV with a folded up towel over it and headphones. I thought it would be okay but the humming from either my computer fans or electric fans must’ve still gotten through. With this in mind, here are my questions:
What equipment and setup do you currently use?
What equipment and setup would you prefer to have?
What’s the minimum that guests should have before joining the show or does it matter?
Thank you very much for the weekly toy chatter,
Feel free to leave this part out if you don’t want to resurrect an old gag.
From Eric Henry
Greeting from Monster Island,
First, I think a great idea for an opening for Repacked would to be to assign everyone a kaiju alternate identity. Craig would have course have to be Craigzilla (complete with sound effects…can never have enough Craigzilla “roars”).
Secondly, A question: do you collect with the whole of your collection in mind, or do you simply grab what you want and try to put it someplace? If there’s something that you want, but you don’t have a place for it, do you still buy it anyways?
Adding onto this…when do you have too many versions of a character? I have over 30 different Gamera figures and I’ve reached a point where I’ve more or less called it quits when it comes to collecting Gamera stuff because I have everything I want already. What say you? Paul, will you ever have too many Rider Ones?
Thanks, and here’s hoping that Nikki can come back sooner rather than later. He’ll be sorely missed while he’s gone (though I can’t help but think of Poochie’s rather abrupt exit from the Itchy and Scratchy show when thinking of Nikki’s temporary exit…”I have to go to my home planet now.”)
Toys ahoy and happy holidays,
Craigzilla vs Ultra Prime. Who wins?
All of Albie’s talk about ordering from Big Bad Toy Store has got me wondering…how long does it take for you to receive a package from BBTS once it’s shipped? See, I’m a little spoiled when it comes to BBTS. I live in Wisconsin, BBTS is based in Wisconsin. If I order something from them on Monday, it’ll be here Tuesday.
